Re-constructed historical Lighthouse - Posted on 02 January 2006
Taken from a plaque on the base of the lighthouse == The Lighthouse, first lit in 1869, originally stood at the entrance to the Port River (Adelaide, South Australia). In 1901 it was dismantled and relocated. The Lantern was installed in a lighthouse on Wonga Shoal off Semaphore Jetty. The iron structure was re-erected on South Neptune Island with a new lantern and served there until 1985. In 1996 the lighthouse was restored and re-assembled on this site in Port Adelaide By the SA Maritime Museum.
